Mind Robotics, Rivian’s Spinoff, Boasts Another $400 Million Raise

Rivian’s innovative spinoff, Mind Robotics, has made a significant splash by raising an additional $400 million. This raise comes on the heels of another $500 million funding round just two months ago, showcasing the rapid growth and potential of this industrial robotics company.

The latest round of funding was led by Kleiner Perkins, with contributions from venture arms of Volkswagen and Salesforce. Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe, who serves as the chairman of Mind Robotics, initiated the project initially known as “Project Synapse” to develop robots with human-like skills aimed at further automating factory operations.

Scaringe began this endeavor because he believed that existing startups were not fully equipped to tackle industrial automation. As TechCrunch reported in March, Scaringe’s vision was to create robotics capable of performing complex tasks typically requiring human expertise. The company has previously secured $115 million from Eclipse since its inception in 2025.

This latest funding brings the total raised by Mind Robotics to more than $1 billion and values the company at over $3 billion, according to reports from the Wall Street Journal. It also marks Scaringe’s second major spinoff after Also, his micromobility venture which has raised over $300 million.
