Waymo is launching a loyalty program called Waymo Premier, designed to reward frequent robotaxi users with exclusive perks in exchange for just $29.99 per month. As part of the program, members will enjoy a variety of benefits:

• 10% Cash Back: Skip the virtual line and earn 10% cash back on every trip (and even more during busy times).
• Free Ride Cancellations: Get five free ride cancellations each month, giving you flexibility without any hassle.
• No Waitlist Restrictions: Access robotaxis in cities where the service still has a waitlist.

The loyalty program is set to launch as Waymo ramps up its expansion across the U.S. and prepares for an international rollout later this year. In addition, the company is rolling out its newest vehicle, the Ojai, in select cities such as Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco.

Waymo's decision to charge $29.99 per month came after considering direct feedback from riders on what they want most from a membership program. The price point may seem steep compared to Uber One ($9.99 per month), but data shows that many users are willing to pay more for the convenience and reliability of Waymo's robotaxis.

This move by Waymo could also mark the beginning of a new revenue stream as it scales up its operations. With Uber successfully monetizing its own loyalty program, Waymo is following suit. The ride-hailing giant’s Uber One program has over 50 million members who pay $9.99 per month for perks like discounts on food and hotels.

While the initial target cities include Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco, Waymo is making a strategic move by not including Austin or Atlanta in the Premier program. This exclusion is because its robotaxis are only available via the Uber app in those cities.
