Emad Dlala, a key figure at electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Lucid Motors, has resigned from the company only weeks after being promoted to an important position, according to TechCrunch.
This departure marks the first significant executive change since Lucid Motors appointed Silvio Napoli as its new CEO in April. Napoli comes with a background in leadership roles at escalator and elevator manufacturer Schindler Group before joining Lucid Motors.
“Emad Dlala has elected to leave the company to pursue other opportunities. We thank Emad for his many contributions over the years and wish him continued success in his future endeavors,” said a statement from Lucid Motors. The company also announced that Vivek Attaluri, vice president of vehicle engineering, and Marc Solsona Palomar, vice president of software, will now report directly to Napoli.
Dlala's departure comes at an interesting time for the company. Lucid is gearing up for the launch of its first mass-market vehicle built on the mid-sized platform called Cosmos, which is expected to start below $50,000. This vehicle is pivotal for Lucid Motors' strategy to expand into a broader market and potentially provide robotaxis to Uber through an agreement with autonomous vehicle company Nuro.
The move follows several changes within the company in recent months, including layoffs and the departure of long-time chief engineer Eric Bach who filed a lawsuit against Lucid for wrongful termination. Despite these challenges, Lucid remains focused on streamlining its organization to enhance innovation and execution under Napoli's leadership.
