Lectric E-Bikes’ Bold Expansion Strategy: A Contrarian Move in a Troubled Market
Despite the wave of bankruptcies plaguing e-bike startups, Lectric E-Bikes has managed to expand through strategic brand launches. Learn how they're navigating a competitive landscape.

Lectric E-Bikes, based in Phoenix, Arizona, is known for its practical and affordable XP series electric bikes. In an interesting move, the company has launched three new brands this year: a relaunch of Juiced Bikes, a new Juiced Powersports brand, and a premium adventure brand called Monarc. CEO Levi Conlow explains why they're investing in these initiatives during a time when others are scaling back.
Why Now?
Conlow believes the market is far from saturated despite the recent bankruptcies of e-bike companies like Rad Power Bikes, which raised nearly $330 million in venture capital but eventually filed for bankruptcy. According to Conlow, others are either pulling back or raising more money while Lectric is actively investing.
Bootstrapping Success
Lectric E-Bikes started as a bootstrapped startup with childhood friends Levi Conlow and Robby Deziel. They took an investment from private equity firm Bertram Capital Management in 2020 but have since grown to become one of the top-selling direct-to-consumer e-bike companies, shipping over 150,000 units last year. Conlow attributes their success to staying profitable and avoiding dilution.
Strategic Brand Expansion
The company's strategy is to keep its brands separate to avoid confusion and better serve specific customer segments. For instance, they have a Juiced Bikes model prominently featured on the Lectric homepage to attract different customers than their best-selling XP Series bikes.
New Monarc Brand
Monarc, a premium adventure brand, has launched with its first e-bike called the Marker. The bike features two LG 48-volt 15Ah batteries providing 720 watt-hours each and is UL 2271 certified for safety. It also comes equipped with a Bafang motor, Shimano drivetrain, and a 3.5-inch color touchscreen that can sync with accessories like rearview radar and smart helmets.
Customer Service Excellence
Monarc emphasizes customer service, offering a five-year warranty and phone support with real humans, something Conlow insists will not be replaced by AI. Each of the three brands operates independently but shares supply chain benefits from Lectric to stay efficient while remaining competitive.
