WeRoad Raises $58M to Bring Group Travel Experiences to America

Imagine traveling not just for the destination but for the company of like-minded souls—this is exactly what WeRoad aims to achieve. The Milan-based startup has raised a $58 million Series C round, led by Airbnb, as it pches into its first significant expansion outside Europe.

From Personal Need to Tech Success

The journey of WeRoad began with a personal challenge. Co-founder Paolo De Nadai and his friend Fabio Bin were looking for meaningful travel experiences that went beyond solo trips. They observed that traditional group travel often fell short, lacking genuine connections among travelers.

“When you finish college and start working, it becomes harder to find people to travel with. Friends were settling down, having kids, moving away, or simply couldn’t align schedules anymore,” says De Nadai.

Their solution was to create a platform that brings together travelers based on shared interests, rather than just age or destination preferences. Now, WeRoad offers trips designed for younger travelers who share common cultural references and diverse backgrounds.

Building Genuine Connections

To foster these connections, WeRoad introduces participants to each other via WhatsApp groups before the trip starts. This pre-trip interaction helps ease any concerns about connecting with new people once everyone gathers in person. The company ensures that most itineraries are filled with collaborative activities early on to break down barriers.

“The biggest concern people have is rarely the destination, but usually concerns that they won’t connect with the group,” says De Nadai.

Beyond Travel

WeRoad’s ambitions extend beyond travel. In 2025, it launched WeMeet, an app for local in-person gatherings such as dinners, hikes, yoga classes, and board game nights. The app has seen impressive growth with over 50,000 attendees across 35 cities.

American Expansion

The company is now setting its sights on the U.S., beginning with Austin. It plans to focus on a select number of cities before expanding further. “We’ll be launching WeMeet events across multiple U.S. cities throughout 2026, starting with Austin because of its incredible energy and vibrant community scene,” says De Nadai.

Revenue Growth

WeRoad’s business model is clearly resonating with travelers. The company generated €130 million in revenue in 2025, up by 30% year over year, and organized trips for more than 100,000 travelers last year alone.

About WeRoad

WeRoad works with over 4,000 group leaders globally, who are chosen based on their ability to lead groups, handle tension, and adapt when plans change. These group leaders serve as travel companions rather than traditional tour guides.
