OpenRouter, the up-and-coming AI gateway maker founded in 2023, is making waves once again with its recent $113 million Series B funding round. Leading this charge is CapitalG, the growth venture fund of Google's parent company Alphabet. While specific details about the new valuation weren't revealed, The New York Times reports that OpenRouter has more than doubled in value to a post-money valuation of around $1.3 billion.

Since its Series A funding round back in June 2025, which was led by Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures with Sequoia’s backing, the startup's journey has been nothing short of remarkable. In just a year, it has seen a significant jump from an estimated $547 million post-money valuation.

What sets OpenRouter apart is its ability to help enterprises choose different AI models for various tasks. This flexibility comes with a cost-saving benefit and the potential for increased reasoning accuracy, making it a popular choice among users. The company boasts over 8 million global users, processing an astounding 100 trillion tokens per month—more than double what it was handling just six months ago.

OpenRouter's offerings include access to more than 400 models from leading AI providers such as Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, xAI, and DeepSeek.
