Lovable Joins Forces with Danish Startup Atech to Democratize Hardware Creation

Lovable, an innovative AI-powered app-building platform, is expanding its horizons by backing a Danish hardware startup called Atech. Their collaboration aims to bring the concept of ā€˜vibe coding’—a process that allows users to describe their hardware concepts and have them transformed into working prototypes via an AI-generated code—to life.

The pre-seed round for this partnership was quite impressive, with Lovable leading a $800,000 funding effort. Other investors included well-known funds like a16z’s scout fund and the Sequoia Scout Fund, along with the Nordic Makers. According to Gustav Hugod, Atech's head of customer experience, the process is surprisingly straightforward for users.

To get started, users can purchase a starter hardware kit from the Atech website. Once they have their kits in hand, they simply open a tab, converse with an AI chatbot, and describe what kind of hardware prototype they want to build. The magic happens as the AI tool generates code that helps them bring their ideas to life.

The platform's user base is impressively diverse, ranging from curious four-year-olds who might be building toy cars to more complex projects like a hydrogen synthesis plant that requires precise voltage sensing. Gustav Hugod believes this democratization of hardware creation will level the playing field, making it accessible for everyone.

ā€œHardware in a democratized world has to be available to everyone,ā€ Hugod said. ā€œBuilding any type of hardware prototype typically requires decades of experience or finding pricy but talented engineers. With Atech and Lovable’s collaboration, that gap is narrowing.ā€

The new capital will primarily be used for research and development, marketing efforts, and hiring to expand the platform's capabilities.
