KC Green Reaches Agreement with AI Startup After Memes Sparked Controversy

After a heated debate and social media backlash, artist KC Green, famous for creating the beloved 'This is fine' meme, has come to an agreement with the AI startup Artisan. The controversy began when Artisan appeared to misuse Green's work to promote their AI assistant Ava, leading to a series of ads featuring his character in unexpected scenarios.

Green first voiced his concerns on social media, describing how his art was being 'stolen like AI steals.' He even encouraged his followers to deface the ads if they encountered them. In an interview with TechCrunch, Green expressed frustration over having to navigate the legal system instead of focusing on his own creative work.

Artisan acknowledged their respect for Green and his art, but it wasn't until recently that a resolution was reached. According to Jaspar Carmichael-Jack, founder and CEO of Artisan, both parties have now come to an agreement. In the settlement, Artisan agreed to remove the offending ads in New York and San Francisco, while Green took down his initial social media post.
