Google Unveils Gemini Intelligence: AI-Powered Widgets and More for Android

At the recent Android Show: I/O Edition, Google unveiled several exciting updates under the Gemini Intelligence banner. These innovations aim to make your Android device even more intuitive and user-friendly.

New Agentic Capabilities

The company has expanded its agentic AI capabilities, allowing it to perform complex tasks such as booking a front-row bike for a spin class or finding related books after locating a class syllabus in Gmail. Gemini can now handle multi-step processes like copying a grocery list from your notes app and adding items to the shopping cart.

Auto-Browse Feature

In addition, Google is rolling out an auto-browse feature that was previously available only on desktop Chrome. Starting in late June, this feature will be integrated into Android devices, enabling Gemini to browse the web and complete tasks like booking appointments.

Form Filling and Gboard Integration

Gemini's form-filling capabilities have also been enhanced through Personal Intelligence, allowing it to fill out forms on your behalf after learning about you. This feature is opt-in and can be disabled in settings at any time.

Vibe-Coded Widgets

One of the most intriguing new features is Gemini's ability to create vibe-coded widgets. Users can describe a widget using natural language, such as 'Suggest three high-protein meal prep recipes every week,' and Gemini will generate it accordingly.

Vibe-Coding in Action

For example, you could build a meal-planning widget by simply saying, 'Suggest three high-protein meal prep recipes every week.' This feature is reminiscent of tools offered by other hardware startups like Nothing.

Material 3 Design and Device Availability

Gemini Intelligence will debut on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this summer, with broader availability across other Android devices later in the year. These AI-powered features are designed to follow Material 3's expressive design language.
