Another year, another major funding milestone for Anduril: The defense technology firm has successfully concluded its latest $5 billion Series H round, boosting its overall valuation by more than double to a staggering $61 billion. This significant influx of capital was led by returning investors Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, as Anduril announced on Wednesday.
This latest funding comes hot on the heels of the company’s impressive financial performance. CEO Brian Schimpf shared that Anduril has managed to double its revenue in just one year to reach $2.2 billion. The news follows a series of strategic contract wins, both domestically and internationally, signaling strong market confidence in Anduril's capabilities.
Interestingly, while Anduril continues to thrive with venture capital support, the Department of Defense has shown no intention of locking itself into any single rising-star startup. Recently, Shield AI’s software was chosen by the Air Force to work with Anduril’s “Fury” autonomous fighter jet for a joint project, rather than granting an exclusive contract.
Despite this, Anduril is far from struggling. In recent weeks, it has secured several key contracts that expand its global reach. Notable among these are:
- Aerospace Defense Systems: In May, Anduril was part of a team awarded a contract to develop a space-based “golden dome” defensive system for the United States.
- Dutch Ministry of Defence: The company also announced a win from the Dutch Ministry, securing contracts worth millions in defense software solutions.
- U.S. Army Contract: Anduril’s Lattice platform was selected by the U.S. Army for battle manager software that integrates data from joint missile defense systems.
Schimpf reflected on these developments, noting, “When we founded Anduril in 2017, defense was not a category that attracted significant venture investment. That has changed meaningfully over the last several years.” Indeed, the landscape for defense tech startups is now bustling with activity, as evidenced by other recent funding rounds:
- Shield AI: In March, the U.S.-based drone company raised a $1.5 billion Series G round at a $12.7 billion valuation.
- Hermes Technologies: Last month, the maker of hypersonic unmanned fighter jets secured $350 million in funding at a valuation above $1 billion, led by Khosla Ventures.
- Helsing: The European defense tech darling is reported to be close to raising a new $1.2 billion round valued around $18 billion, with investors including Dragoneer and Lightspeed.
Anduril has now raised more than $11 billion in total from investors, underscoring its status as a powerhouse in the defense tech sector. As Anduril continues to grow, it’s clear that its success is not just about financial performance but also about strategic partnerships and expanding global influence.
