Helsing Drone Startup Sees Massive Funding Boost: $1.2B at $18B Valuation

European military drone firm Helsing is on the cusp of a significant fundraising round, valuing it at around $18 billion. According to reports from The Financial Times, this latest investment is expected to bring in $1.2 billion and will be led by billionaire Daniel Ek through his investment arm Dragoneer, with existing investor Lightspeed co-leading.

Helsing’s last fundraising round took place just a year ago, in June 2025, securing €600 million at an estimated €12 billion valuation ($14 billion). This new round marks a substantial step up for the five-year-old startup. While Helsing isn’t the only European unicorn in defense tech, it’s clearly the most valued by investors.

For context, consider that German drone maker Quantum Systems raised €180 million in November 2025, valuing it at more than €3 billion. Lisbon-based Tekever secured £400 million a year ago at a valuation above £1 billion. Amid Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, the proving ground for new technologies, autonomous defense startups have become a hot area for venture capitalists.

Given Helsing's impressive valuation and the growing interest from high-profile investors like Daniel Ek, it's clear that this latest round could set new benchmarks in the tech industry. However, only time will tell if these projections hold true as the company continues to develop its cutting-edge technology.
