Discord Unveils Nitro Rewards: Get Free Xbox Game Pass Access for Nitro Subscribers

Discord has made a major move in its subscription strategy by launching Nitro Rewards, offering exclusive deals for its Nitro subscribers. Starting Monday, those who pay the $9.99 per month fee will enjoy access to the base tier of Xbox Game Pass, along with discounts on top gaming hardware brands like Logitech G, SteelSeries, and KontrolFreek.

Stanislav Vishnevskiy, Discord’s co-founder and CTO, explained that Nitro Rewards is all about enhancing value for subscribers. “Nitro has always been about how we can meaningfully upgrade the Discord experience without limiting it significantly for free users,” he said. This move comes as Discord continues to expand its user base beyond just gamers into a broader community hub.

At launch, Nitro Rewards provides access to over 50 PC and Xbox games through the Xbox Game Pass, including popular titles like Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, and DayZ. Additionally, subscribers can enjoy 10 hours of cloud gaming, which allows streaming from a PC or Xbox to other devices. The program also includes discounts ranging from 15% to 30% on various gaming accessories.

Discord plans to expand its partnership network in the future, potentially bringing more offers and brands to the table. Vishnevskiy noted that Nitro is a significant contributor to Discord’s revenue growth, making this new initiative an important step for retaining subscribers.

Initially launched as a chat platform for gamers, Discord now serves a diverse community including crypto enthusiasts, pub-goers, and activists. With over 90 million daily active users, the platform has gained significant exposure but also faces challenges related to online safety and age verification measures.
